Wedlidi Speck 
Traditional Knowledge and Knowledge Transfer


Wedlidi Speck is a member of the Nemgis First Nation of Alert Bay and the Kwakwaka'wakw cultural group.  He is the head chief of his mothers family - the Gixsam clan of the Kwakiutl tribe.  Versed in the culture of his people. Wedlidi utilizes traditional knowledge and story in his community engagement and workplace design.  He is currently employed by the Ministry of Children and Family Development as a Director of Indigenous Cultural Competency - Learning and Development.

Wild Foods:  Boosting the Immune System and Hormone Health

Mikel is a self-taught wild food and herbal medicine teacher with a passion for health and wellness using holistic lifestyle approaches.  With a strong connection to the healing powers of nature he is very enthusiastic about working with the earth's natural rhythms to find balance and harmony in our daily lives.  With wild food and medicine being his primary focus, he is also interested in Chinese, Ayurvedic and South American herbs and herbal systems.  An avid gardener and farmer he is a big promoter of buying, growing and supporting as local as possible and believes that the condition of our environment has an immense impact on our longevity, health and wellbeing.

Permaculture: Living in Harmony with Nature

Owner:  Vancouver Island Permaculture.  Elaine is a Permaculture Design Consultant and teacher with training in both Canada and Australia.  She has more than 25 years of experience organic gardening and green living.  She has a wide ranging background in nutrition and natural healing.  Vancouver Island Permaculture was started in order to share ecological design strategies for productive living strategies with the larger community.

Thai Massage:  Healing From the Inside Out


Jennifer is a certified Thai Massage and Yoga Therapist dedicated to providing complimentary medicine to address physical, mental and emotional issues.  Having first hand experience of the healing capabilities of Thai massage, she has dedicated herself to sharing it with others.  Working along side those dealing with chronic pain, MS, depression, professional athletes and people on personal healing journeys for the last 7 years she helps people find internal and external harmony in life.  Finding important continual study, Jennifer has recently returned from a Thai medical massage apprenticeship, studying under a doctor of Thai medicine.  Her hope is to educate and empower people to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.

Hearing Loss and Dementia

Roberta Lacroix is a hearing specialist registered through the College of Speech and Hearing Health Professionals of BC. Roberta has a passion to educate and raise awareness of the importance of maintaining our hearing health. Roberta believes in a holistic approach to healthcare and brings to her patients a deeply compassionate and caring presence. She is currently working with Beltone Hearing Care Centres in Courtenay and Comox.  She is also a Healing Touch Practitioner apprentice and Reiki Master.  She was born and raised in the Comox Valley and is glad to be back here to call the Valley home once again.

Arrow Gonsalves - Heart Drum Beat Taoist Yoga and Healing Services

Cultivating the Internal Ki-energy

Arrow is a Master Trainer and Master Healer in the Tao Healing Arts.  She offers physical, emotional and spiritual healing and empowerment through Do-In (Taoist yoga classes) and workshop instruction. Using traditional training methods and lessons of Tao.  Arrow helps people restore health and balance while awakening their innate being.  Practitioners regain purpose, joy, compassion and wonder through study of self as part of the way of nature.  
Her lessons systematically incorporate Chakra Training and Brain Based development programs. 
Arrow has 9 years experience in Taoist Yoga Instruction, Workshop Facilitation as well as Instructor Training and Traditional Healer Training.
